Are you Stressed? Covid-19 anxiety?
Sometimes the life situation can be out of our control such as this recent Covid-19 pandemic causing frustration and stress. Therefore, we need to discover our ways to cope with stress and anxiety. In this blog post I have collected some tips along with my personal experience and knowledge (as psychology student) one can cope and relieve their stress.
First consider the deep breathing technique. Deep breaths can act as magic. If you learn how to breathe properly and remind yourself to consciously breathe in stressful situations, taking a pause becomes easier, and further analyzing our thoughts becomes easier. Using calm website can help you to practice.
The next tip is related to practice writing (not as hard as essay writing skill 😂). Grab a paper or a notebook and write whatever you can observe your mind thinking. Try this! Whenever you can, whenever you can. This paper is your friend. You can tell your friend whatever you want. Especially when you have stress and overthinking. Just write it on the paper or even your phone. Also, if you feel you are overwhelmed with your tasks (work, assignments and anything else). You can write it down and prioritize your tasks. So when you finish it and check mark it as done. You feel more productive and less stressed.
Also, it is important to ask for help whenever you feel it. Don’t be afraid of rejection. Ask for a hug for instance, for someone to lend their ears. Talk to your friends and share your feelings. Don’t be afraid of being judged . Ask your friends and family (even your teachers) about recommendations or advice so they can help you.
Lastly, find your own relaxation technique. Have a nice shower, read a book, or Light a candle (my personal favorite meditation technique; another name of it being Tratak). Research all the possible ways of meditation and find your favorite way. Having stress, anxiety and overthinking can be challenging and sometimes unavoidable. Ask for help if you feel like having panic attacks.
