IN THEIR WORDS
Agency Mentorship Program
“I was going over the workplan and looking back on the few steps we have taken, and I know much of the credit goes to the FYI team. I wanted to take the time to thank you for being an great mentor, and helping us with our challenges, Christa [AMP Coordinator]. You have been a great supporter and thank you very much for your advice and guidance. You often go out of your way to provide documents and websites that can further help CanTYD [Canadian Tamil Youth Development Centre]. CanTYD staff and board members find the training sessions to be very beneficial. You are doing a great job, and this has been a very good learning experience for CanTYD. The board members who have attended the sessions have now encouraged the others to attend. So, you can now look forward to meeting more of our Board of Directors!”

“In the first quarter of AMP, we’ve received a great deal of resources and tools to help us design a workplan to meet our capacity building needs and tools to build a sustainable and thriving organization. Trainings have provided us with opportunity to re-examine our goals, evaluate our thinking and build systems and methods to create achievable goals for EYC. The team, especially Christa, continuously make themselves available for any of our inquiries, whether it pertains to Finance, HR policies and/or Governance, just to name a few. Christa is extremely helpful, and responds to our inquiries in a timely and efficient manner, and provides us with endless tools, templates and resources. Her support and guidance has been instrumental in helping us set a good foundation for the remainder of the life of the project.”

Blue Jays Game 2011
Special Thanks to the Jays Care Foundation for making these special moments possible for our participants.
“The Blue Jays game that FYI took me to was soo amazing. I got to sit in the VIP section. Drinks and food were free. It was the first ever Blue Jays game I went to! Btw that bird [Ace] is funny, I got to hug and play around with its beak (sigh). When the game was over, I didn’t want to leave but I had toL.I enjoyed everything about the Blue Jays and am hoping I’ll see another game soon!”
- Masey Horne, Grade 10, FYI Participant
“I played softball in elementary school. I have never been to a Blue Jay’s Game before. It was a good experience. It looked expensive! They gave us a good amount of food and drinks until the game was done. And the Blue Jays (mascot) came in and danced with us and stuff. Field trips like this are good because they keep youth off the road and gives them experience to go places where they want to go and they don’t have the money to go.”
- Brian, Grade 10, FYI Participant
“The Blue Jays game was so cool! I had never been to a baseball game before. The seating box was very nice and too fancy! I was surprised when I walked in because everything was free and delicious and so nice. There was a lot of food. The experience was very cool, it made me very happy. Thank you for inviting us; it was one of the coolest things I’ve seen. I would love to go again”

“I would say that throughout the while I’ve been at FYI I learned a lot of good characteristics. For example my leadership skills have improved and peer motivation skills have improved. Other things that FYI did for me was brought me on trips and gave me an article in the magazine for me to show my poems and views on what is going on in society.”
- Daniel, 18 years old
“I think that FYI is a good leadership program for teens like me. FYI helps me find a job, and the staff gives me advice on life and good ones too. They provide food, bus tickets, etc. My experience at FYI is outstanding because they took us on trips that many people do not usually attend would want to come and join and stay out the streets.”
- LeShauna, 15 years old
“I think FYI is a good place where you can come in and be safe and where you can get help with anything from homework to trying to find a job.”
