FYI’s Community Engagement stream is defined by our engagement and partnerships with every aspect of the community we serve, from youth and families, to allied agencies and service providers, educators, advocacy groups, businesses and non-profit funders.
The Community Engagement stream focuses on a number of areas which include:
Outreach and Engagement with the Community
- Create opportunities of dialogue and civic engagement on issues of importance to the youth we serve
- Providing meaningful learning experiences for volunteers and placement students
Capacity Building Supports to Youth-Led Agencies
- Providing administrative partnership supports to youth-led agencies
- Providing an organizational mentorship program which focuses on offering resources to help build the capacity and organizational infrastructure of youth- led groups through training, one-on-one mentoring and partnership development
- Developing a intrasectoral skilled volunteer program to help fill some of the gaps present within the youth-led sector
FYI strongly believes that mentorship of smaller youth-led organizations is crucial to the sustainability of the youth-led sector. We have been fortunate to have great mentors and supporters who have enabled us to become sustainable by laying down a strong foundation. We believe it is our duty to share what we have learned during our journey of growth as a youth-led agency with our peers and support them in their growth. Over the last few years we have been fortunate to be able to develop and implement a diverse array of methods that seeks to provide structured and yet dynamic support to groups across the GTA.
